– Start packing well in advance of the move, do no leave packing to the night before the moving day!
– Disconnect all electronics equipment, secure the cords, and pack at least 3 hours prior to moving day.
– Make sure you have reserved the appropriate No Parking Signs if you are in an area where there is not a proper driveway to park our moving trucks. In order to ensure the signs are available you must call the local police precinct at least 72 hours in advance of the day you are reserving. If you are unsure as to whether you need these signs, your moving consultant will be happy to assist you in this decision.
– If you are moving out or into a condominium building with elevator access you must reserve the elevator for the appropriate day and block of time. Typically building will allow 2 time slots per day, 9:00 am to 1:00 pm and 1:00 pm to 5:00 pm. Some larger moves may need the entire day to move in or out of a building. Your moving consultant will be able to provide you with the information necessary to reserve the appropriate amount of time.
– Remove unnecessary items from your attic, basement or storage shed so that you are not paying to have items boxed or brought to your new home that you will eventually throw away.
– Fill a box with moving-day essentials like paper plates, medicine, paper towels, all documents related to settlement and closing of homes, checkbook and most importantly our business card with contact numbers to reach us in emergency.
– If you are moving out of state set aside all the above items and a few days worth of clothes for you or any of your children.
– All refrigerators and freezers that are being moved must be properly defrosted and dry before shipping. It is our recommendation that you do this at least 24 hours in advance of moving day.
– Make all efforts to draw up a floor-plan for the new home so that you are decisive as to where all the furniture will be placed in your new residence.
– Relax, you have the most skilled and professional moving company in the MD, DC and VA handling the move for you!
